Manatee Community College
Graphic Technology / Arts Building

The 25,000 s.f. Graphic Technology and Arts building on MCC's Bradenton Campus supports programs for drawing, graphic design, photography, cinematography, sculpture, ceramics, metals and print making. Most classrooms and labs are placed along the northern side of the building to maximize natural light exposure. Careful zoning organizes spaces to "clean and dirty" with certain labs and classrooms finished in an industrial manner. "Extremely dirty" functions, such as raku and salt kilns, welding operations and chemical and clay mixing and hazardous storage are housed in a detached outdoor pavilion with a covered connection to the main building. The two-story brick and stucco building with a metal roof design blends into the established context of MCC's Bradenton campus yet still provides a distinctive expression befitting an Arts program.
